Travel to Argomos, Greece

Argomos is located at the threshold of eastern Cyclades, Greece. This island formerly called Yperia and Melania (often dubbed Agoudouras), refers to a kind of blackish color tanamanoak Aegialis covering the valley and used as a tanner.

If you are a history lover, Argomos is one of the best place to visit for. You could use the time to enjoy the ancient sights, feel the authentic life onal traditions, recognize a variety of construction and architectural style of stone houses, warehouses, churches (there are about 365 pieces) and the old chapel ( 40 units).

The travelers can freely wander along the narrow alleys that while on the way they will find a lot of spice plants and edible wild leaves, followed taking a break in "tavermas", local resorts are friendly while admiring the old buildings made of stone and looked at plots are narrow and winding roads and maybe buy some crafts options.

The spotlight on the area is the monastery of Lady Chosoviotissa "Byzantine Monastery of Panaghia Hozoviotissa" which is an ancient Roman building which was founded in 1088 and the museum where there plastered religious manuscripts and relics of the 11th century 12. Another tour that should not be missed is a visit to the old capital, Hora (now known as Chora) with a path that play where there are archaeological museums, interesting shops and tavernas.

Dry stone fence that many miles in length to make borders and establish the steps to illustrate the potential of agricultural land in the UNESCO heritage features. Port Aegiali with three traditional villages Langada, Tholaria, and Potamos blend with the surrounding hills and Ormos, the port, beach tourist area is a place worth visiting.

Aegiali is an Amorgian small world consisted of its three traditional villages, Langada, Tholaria and Potamos climbing the slope of the highest mountain
on Amorgos, Krikellos (821). They are built above the deep valley and the harbor of Aegiali, which is a port with all the tourist services available. A beautiful sandy beach spans the gentle curve of the bay. Potamos is overlooking Ormos, the harbor, and is the village with the best-preserved architecture in the area.

Langada is located at the end of the valley in an idyllic location among steep rocky peaks and deep valleys. It is quite easy to reach the port from here on foot or by a car. There are exciting sights to be discovered while hiking or walking on the numerous trails of the area. The gorge of Araklos, the historical church of Agia Triada, the old church of Panagia Epanohoriani, the half-ruined settlement of Stroumbos and the exceptional beauty of the natural landscape can be admired.

Within one hour's walk from Langada one can see the unique Byzantine monument of Theologos, a monastery of early Byzantine years. A bit further, the historical little chapel of Stavros is situated. In most of these locations traditional festivals take place every year, in memory of the patron saints, and many people from the island participate in the celebrations.

Tholaria, with its extremely hospitable people is built close to the location of the ancient city of Aegiali (Vigla). The village celebrates on the 1st of July the name day St. Anargiri. The good location of the village allows easy access to many beaches and the port. The crystal clear sea of Aegiali offers unforgettable moments. Besides the main sandy beach, locarions suitable for swimming are Levrosos, Psili amos and Hochlakas, where the tranquility of the location brings peace and relaxation to visitors.

Argomos Speciality

If you are in Aegiali, try to stay at the Hotel Lakki Village, or five-star hotel, Aegialis Hotel and Spa which provides views of the ocean pier, or Mike (read: "mekay"), this hotel is located next to the pier. Tariff rates for non-holiday season for a single room ranges from 44 dollars and for doubles range from $ 53, the price would be multiplied up to 52 dollars and 65 dollars at the peak of the holiday season. New shelter in Aegiali, Camara Cafe located in Potamos provides a suite facilities with a range of prices starting at 50 Euro depending on season visits.

You should also try Rakomello Taverna.  Rakomello Taverna is a beverage made from honey and raki (a type of liquor flavored unsweetened and has a spicy taste of the herb). The price of a liter of wine ranges from 6.81 to 8.17 dollars. Special staple food in the form of bread with feta cheese, olives, sweet pickles, often with small fried fish, and tzatziki, an appetizer made of yogurt, cucumber, onion and olive oil. More complete meals include more seafood, like calamari and a type of shrimp, and other vegetables.
